Biography

Jonathan Finegold is the owner of Fine Gold Music (“FGM”); a licensing, management and product development company.  FGM’s licensing division, which includes representation of George Clinton/Funkadelic, and many top indie record labels including Greensleeves, Fierce Panda, Last Gang, Sunday Best, Brunswick, and Vagrant, places music into film, TV, trailers and advertising campaigns.  

Previously, Finegold was Director A&R for Island Records, Q/Atlantic, K-tel International and Robbins Entertainment/BMG.  He has worked with and on projects for Lumidee, Wyclef Jean, Beenie Man, Snoop Dog, Fat Man Scoop, The Fu-Schnickens, Dawn Robinson of En Vogue and Joey McIntyre.  Recently, Finegold was the music supervisor for various films including National Lampoon’s Pledge This! (Universal) starring Paris Hilton and the critically acclaimed indie film Backseat.  

His music licensing work has been heard in the advertisements of Blackberry, Guinness, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Pontiac, ESPN’s X Games, and more.  Movies & trailers include The Wrestler, Be Kind Rewind, Observe & Report, Meet The Fockers, The Rebound, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, Knocked Up, The Roommate, Dukes Of Hazzard, Bratz, Dance Flick, Blue Valentine, Road Trip 2 & more.  TV shows include: Entourage, Everybody Hates Chris, CSI, Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl, Burn Notice, Life On Mars, The L Word, Bones, Cane, The Philanthropist, Breaking Bad, Life, What About Brian, Prison Break, Swingtown, Operating Instructions, Brothers & Sisters & many more.

He is currently an adjunct instructor in music business at the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music in New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.  Mr. Finegold holds both a Bachelors Degree in accounting and finance and a Masters Degree in arts administration, from New York University (Stern and Steinhardt).  He is a Grammy voting member of NARAS and has lived in “The Village” NYC for over 25 years.
