Biography
Phil Galdston is a songwriter/producer whose songs and productions have appeared on over 65 million records worldwide on recordings by artists ranging from Brandy to Kathy Mattea, from Aaron Neville to Cher, from Celine Dion (who has recorded 5 of his songs) to Jaci Velasquez. His song, "Save the Best For Last" (one of 7 recorded by Vanessa Williams), simultaneously reached #1 on Billboard's 3 major charts, received four GRAMMY nominations (including Song and Record of the Year) and was named ASCAP's Song of the Year. His work has appeared on thirteen GRAMMY-nominated recordings. Phil has been honored with three ASCAP Pop Awards, an ASCAP Country Award, two Nashville Songwriters' Association citations, a Cable ACE Award nomination, the Time For Peace Award for achievement in music, and the Grand Prize of The American Song Festival. He was named 1999 Songwriter in Residence at the Berklee College of Music. Phil is an active member of ASCAP and has long been leader of The Recording Academy, where he just completed his second term as President of the Academy's New York Chapter. He lectures frequently on songwriting and has defended the rights of the creators of intellectual property in print, on radio and television, at international conferences, and before the Intellectual Property Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee.
