Biography

Kelly Haley is the Director of public relations and communications for the Apollo Theater Foundation in Harlem as well as chief strategist for Identity Consulting, a public relations and communication consultant firm based in Brooklyn, New York. She has more than a dozen years in the music industry. She has contributed her considerable skills to major record labels, including EMI, MCA, Atlantic, Uptown, and Motown where she held senior management positions in music publicity and media relations. Working with such notable record executives as Clarence Avant, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Andre Harrell, and Ron Shapiro, Ms. Haley played an integral role in the development of acts that defined exciting new genres within hip-hop and R & B, among them, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D., and Guy (featuring Teddy Riley). She began her career in artist management, helping to guide the careers of pioneering rap acts Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, and Roxanne Shanté. The roster of talent that she has worked with extends to artists whose signature sound represents diverse musical genres from blues to jazz, classic R & B to hip-hop soul, and includes B. B. King, Brandy, Brian McKnight, Dianne Reeves, Eric B and Rakim, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, the O'Jays, Queen Latifah, Stevie Wonder, and Zhané.
